An amazing cat, at just 19 months of age and in just 10 shows, Saxon has the prestigious honour of being TICA's Best International British Shorthair for the 2008/2009 Show Season.
Our thanks go to Pamela Barrett for showing him so well & loving him as she does, for allowing me to show him in the last show of the season in Calgary that clinched his title.

Harmony, a blue classic tabby & white, had a great 2008/2009 season.  Shown only a few times as a kitten, she achieved regional win status (top 20 kittens) and when shown just once as an adult, she successfully achieved championship status despite competing against two internationally ranked mature males (amazing!).  Her parents are Robocat Gladiator of SterlingBrits (Classic black silver tabby now in Australia with Britz Cats) and Excalibur Shasta of SterlingBrits (blue & white)

Photographer Acknowlegement:  Our special thanks go to Tamila Aspen for the gorgeous pictures pictures she took of Saxon and Harmony above in Portland last January.  These and others appear on our site, including pictures she took of Paint & Fantasia.  Thank you Tamila.

STERLING BRITS CATTERY

Breeding British Shorthair cats & kittens, we specialize in classic black silver tabby and silver spotted Brits, as well as the better known British Blues. We take great pride in our British Shorthair cats and kittens, believing our silver Brits to be the finest classic silver tabby and silver spotted British Shorthairs in North America. Our foundation cats were carefully chosen from top UK Grand Champion lines to ensure the highest possible standards for quality, health and temperament in our sires, queens and kittens.

Lovingly raised underfoot, our kittens are confident, affectionate, gentle, playful and accustomed to normal household life when they leave us at 12-16 weeks. We take pride in finding loving homes for our babies, and in getting to know and support their new owners.

THE BRITISH SHORTHAIR BREED

Compact, powerful and well-balanced, the Romans prized the British Shorthair for its physical strength and hunting capability. Brits are now better recognized for their calmness, loyalty and trainability, not to mention their famous Cheshire Cat grin.

SIZE

A typical British male is 12-18 pounds at maturity, with females averaging 8-12 pounds; males 12-18 pounds. Both sexes fill out until about four years of age, and tend to remain youthful looking for 15-20 years. They have a thick plush coat that requires very little grooming. A comb once or twice a week keeps your Brit in top form.

TEMPERAMENT

We pride ourselves in the temperament of our kittens. Handled daily and raised underfoot, our kittens are playful, confident, easy going and affectionate, adapting especially well to small children and pets. They are neither destructive nor overly active, and enjoy supervising household activities. Brits are especially drawn to playing with water, much to their owners' great delight.

COLOURS

British Blues are the most easily recognizable Brit, but Brits come in many colours. Sterling Brits specialize in classic black silver tabby and silver spotted Brits, as well as blues. Despite their enormous popularity in Europe, silver spotted and classic silver tabby Brits (like Mrs.McGonigle in Harry Potter), are rarely seen in North America. All of our silver foundation cats came from Britain, and all are from grand champion lines. Two of our girls are from the outstanding Sargenta Silver Montaego, UK Grand.

SILVER or BLUE?

Most people have an immediate preference for either the silver spotteds, the classic black silver tabbies or the blues. It's a very personal choice. Silver Brits are a little more agile, outgoing and affectionate than the blues, and they are incredibly smart. Markings on the silvers and the development of their green eye colour evolves for several months, becoming progressively more stunning. The blues, the most easily recognizable Brits are more laid back and less agile than the silvers, a bit shorter & stockier, with amazing copper eyes,a plusher coat and a rounder face.

TABBY OR SPOTTED

Both the classic black silver tabby and the silver spotted British Shorthairs are still quite rare in North America. Over the past several years, we imported six silver tabby and silver spotted British Shorthairs from two highly respected catteries in the U.K. Our breeding foundation cats come from Grand Champion, Supreme Grand Champion and UK Grand Champion lines, and are superb examples of the breed, with absolutely breath-taking markings and affectionate, sweet-natured temperaments.
